As part of URN’s decarbonization strategy, the Institut T.URN is supporting all the establishment’s internal stakeholders in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to carrying out the establishment’s greenhouse gas emissions assessment (BEGES) every 3 years, the aim is also to support the various research units and departments in carrying out their Bilan Carbone, in order to achieve decarbonization of all activities. This support is provided by a BEGES project manager, a position currently held by a teacher-researcher, and a “decarbonization” engineer. In order to involve the entire university community, this approach also relies on a network of referents within the various laboratories and departments of the establishment.

FOCUS: Systematization of the BEGES of laboratories

The T.URN institute assists the establishment’s research units in drawing up their greenhouse gas emission balance sheets.

After an awareness-raising meeting with the unit’s members, the scope of data collection is defined, followed by data processing. The Bilan Carbone report is then used to implement actions aimed at reducing GHG emissions.

To date, more than 80% of the University’s laboratories have embarked on their decarbonization process.
